Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Sowing Seeds

"They are starting to grow!" Several children noticed that the beans were starting to open up! They showed with their hands how the seeds were expanding. Other children who had not yet had a chance to plant their bean stalks did so today.

Several children who had been away last week were back today, and the Turtles were so glad to be re-united, gleefully greeting each other and picking right up where they had left off.

Quilting, Mod-Podge Style

Today we began our Something Blue Quilt, beginning by piecing together the grid-lines with scraps of all our blue pieces. On the Monday when we return, we will fill in the center of each square. If your child does not yet have their "something blue" please please please bring it in that Monday.

Today we also:

building, big
and small

painted with custom mixed colors,
worked on patterning,
continued the hunt for the missing "T"

played chase on the playground,

and observed the ducks by the creek.

If You're Happy and You Know It!

Movement with Missy was so much fun!

We were Busy Bees finding partners:

Then we sang, "If You're Happy and You Know It:"
wag your tail,

flap your ears,

snap your jaws,

squawk your beak,

pound your chest,

and laugh like a hyena!
We played dodge ball:

And did the parachute, aka Missy's dress.
