Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Planting Seeds

Today was a special day for the Turtles because they got the chance to start growing their own beanstalk. They have been wanting to grow beanstalks for a long time. And so today we started an experiment with Kentucky Wonder Pole Beans.  Each Turtle was given a few beans and a wet paper towel to put into their own zip lock bags.  The bags were then taped to the window and tomorrow we will predict record what they think will happen to the beans! They already know lots about seeds and what they need to grow: sunlight, water and dirt.

The rest of the morning was still busy with lots of different activities, which included:

typing numbers and words we saw in books,

playing store,

working as a team to assemble tricky puzzles,

playing cars,

and revisiting color mixing!

Some of the Turtles got extra creative and started painting with their fingers and hands.  They even suggested painting with their feet next time!

After spending some time at the playground, the Turtles and Little Frogs headed off to the Pre-K playground with wagons full of our helmets!
