Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

The Turtles and Little Frogs to the Rescue!

It was a nice sunny morning when the Turtles discovered a butterfly in the classroom! Carol suggested rescuing the butterfly by taking it outside to his friends and family.  Getting help from the Little Frogs, some of us walked over to the science classroom at the Lower School to borrow a net. After retrieving the net, the kids were so excited to see Carol carefully capturing the butterfly.  Then we all went outside to set the butterfly free!

Then a special visitor came to our classroom! Coco, Madison's dog, turned 8 today so the Turtles got the chance to sing happy birthday to her and even got to hold her.

After saying goodbye to Coco, the Turtles had their Moment Silence at Morning Meeting.  The Turtles have been trying really hard to be peaceful for our Moment of Silences, and we captured pictures of the ones who were able to do it today!

Then we headed outside to start our drawings for the set of The Turtles and the Beanstalk. We used so much of our imagination in our drawings and drew an array of magical castles, ponds, towers, secret doors, and sunshines!

When we got to the John Barnes room, Jenny was happily waiting for us! Because we only have a few more classes with her, Jenny sang some of our favorite songs and also brought out a variety of instruments!

Some other outdoor activities included:
