Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

A Thursday Adventure!

In order to help the Turtles think of additional ways to make our cardboard brick house more beautiful, the Turtles were asked to go on an adventure to look at all the different types of houses in a close by neighborhood! Before heading out, a very important question was asked: What do you think we will see in the neighborhood?  David responded by asking, "what is a neighborhood?" and Gabby enthusiastically replied, "where people live!".  Ella then added that "all the houses are all different, like red, and brown, and grey".  Lots of great ideas were shared and we were so excited to set out for our adventure with clipboards and pencils in hand!

We found a big tree to sit against as we observed and sketched the house!

During Free Choice Time,

there was a walking chimney with legs,

a science teacher who was writing names,

and mod podge brick layers.

Then all of a sudden there were meteors that were melting all over our trays!! (flubber)

And, of course, our beloved puppets came out to play!

Our morning then came to an end with Music!

Jenny introduced us to a special drum made out of snake skin!

We even got a chance to drum on it and feel the skin of the snake!

Jenny then challenged the Turtles to a new version of "head, shoulders, knees, and toes", called "hooves, belly, antlers, nose".  The Turtles loved the challenge and was even able to sing it super fast!

Then we sang "At the Aquarium", which included clams, swordfishes, octupi, and sharks!

Jenny also taught us how to sound like we are under the water by using our fingers against our lips.
