Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

A Lovely Thursday

Once again, we started our morning with finger painting! This time, we mixed blue and yellow together, and we soon discovered that these two colors create green.  As the children used their fingers and hands to write letters in their names, they soon realized that lightly patting the mirror with their hands could also create some beautiful patterns.  With great enthusiasm, Madigan said "it looks like trees!".

Our morning, of course, did not stop there.  We read our favorite books in the book corner,

built houses for cats,

raced cars down the ramps we created,

and made a bike train outside!

After we had some time outside to let out all our Turtle energy, we met Jenny for music!  She brought with her sticks that we scraped together and used for drumming on the floor.

Then we went apple picking in our tractor.  Our basket of apples became so heavy that we were falling over!

We can't wait to see Jenny next Thursday because she told us she would bring Hermina's (turtle puppet) babies with her!
