Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Changing Colors, All Around

We started out the day with painting with liquid water colors. The children are experimenting with washes of color, and today the liquid water colors were bright and strong, creating vivid mixtures.

Choice Time was also filled with color mixing, as we experimented with yellow and red finger paint on round mirrors. The reflective surface of the mirror provided extra incentive for the children to use their finger tips to create patterns.

Another choice at Choice Time was the Writing Center which was equipped with tree books, oak leaves, acorns, magnifying glasses, pencils, and clipboards with paper. The children closely observed the leaves and acorns using the magnifying glasses, and talked about their observations.

At Morning Meeting, we are working on name recognition. Each child has a spot with their name written on it, and some children are working on recognizing their own name, while other children are learning their friends names.

Soon it was time for out walk! We set out to the Lower School Playground. Although the grass was dry, so children decided to put on their boots, which turned out to be a good idea because we found a huge mud pit! There were many trees starting to change colors, and we also found a great blue bridge.

Once we got to the Lower School Playground, there was SO much to do! And we saw lots of friends!
