Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

A Cold, Brisk Friday!

It was a cold Friday morning, but all our turtle friends were so happy to be at school!

Our morning consisted of making birthday cakes with blocks,

teaching some of our friends how to play our new game from yesterday,

eating dinner at Madigan's house,

and reading books to our babies.

We even started an art project and created a collage with different types of papers and shapes!

The turtles were able to identify all the different shapes they added to their collage.

During choice time, we built a variety of structures,

and finger painted.

We soon discovered that yellow, red, and white create the color of the sun!

Some friends wrote their names with their fingers.  After seeing their name written in front of them in such a new and different way, it was clear how proud they were of themselves when seeing their smiling faces!

Our morning, did not stop there.  Rocket ships were formed with our all time favorite magnatiles,

read books in the warm sun,

performed a puppet show about being able to have more than one friend,

went searching for our babies up on the climber,

worked with our friends to complete a number puzzle,

and finally finished off our morning with balancing ourselves around the sandbox.  It was interesting to see our friends maintaing such good balance as they moved their bodies from left to right!
