Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Find the Missing Letter!

During Free Choice Time, all the Turtles flocked to the block area after Fran brought out marbles and their complimentary tubes to build mazes with!

Caimin even tried something different by rolling around the marbles at the light table, which caused more friends to join in!

Other things we did during Free Choice included:

skating around the room with blocks,

finishing an entire alphabet puzzle,

playing family,

coloring with many different colors,

playing restaurant, while writing down food orders,

and reading stories to friends.

During Choice Time, Fran challenged the Turtles by hiding all the alphabet puzzle pieces in the sand table and asked them to look for them.  But that wasn't all. After they found a letter, they had to look for the same letter on the list and cross it off or check it off.  The Turtles are becoming more and more interested in letters and writing, and were so excited every time they found a letter!

Then we went outside to have some more fun!
