Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Spreading Kindness One Graham Cracker at a Time

Since the Turtles got rid of the meanness in our room, we decided to dedicate an entire wall for the kindness we see and hear in our room, but first thing first, we had to decorate make a kindness sign and a sign for the Peace Table.  Using watercolors, some of us got a chance to paint a portion of the sign and got a chance to start a list of kind words we heard throughout the day.

Some of the things we wrote down included:

"I'm playing with it, but you can help."
"I said, 'you can play.'"
"I already asked Madigan, but maybe next time you have a turn."
"He's my friend and I love him."
"When I'm finished using the green, you can use it."
"You can share with me."
"You can share with mine."
"You did a good job."

Then we had Inside-Outside Day on this beautiful day!

Swinging

Making Cake

Basking in the Sun

Riding Bikes

Playing Family

Putting on Make-Up for the Show

Performing in the Show

Running

Working on Self-Portraits

Climbing

Then off the Turtles went to visit Nancy in the big school to get more help for our blue quilt!  We even brought graham crackers to surprise Nancy with.

Carrying our "something blue" bin.

The Turtles had some graham crackers leftover and when Tamara asked who they think they should give some crackers to, Paddy excitedly said, "April!" so off the Turtles went looking for April.  We went to April's office, but she was nowhere to be found so instead the Turtles decided to put on a show with singing and dancing!

Then we headed towards the lunch room to check if April was eating lunch and low and behold, she was!

Some other things we did this morning included:
