Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

1st Grade Visitors!

Today, The Turtles had a very special visit from Susan's 1st graders from the Lower School!  Each of the 1st graders brought in a book to read to the Turtles. This visit was extra special because Wills' brother Lucas is in Susan's first grade class!  Each Turtle was paired up with a 1st grader and after they were finished, they were asked what their favorite part of the book was.  Not only did the 1st graders read to the Turtles, but the Turtles also got a chance to share one of their favorite books with their reading buddies! The Turtles loved reading with their new friends and can't wait to visit them in the Lower School.

After saying goodbye to our new friends, the Little Frogs and the Turtles split up for Flip Flop Day!  Many great activities were going on in both the Little Frogs room and the Turtle room.

In the Little Frog's room, the children played with Princess Froggy and Nelly,

experimented with paint mixing in a new way,

and played house.

In The Turtles' room, we had the chance to continue on with our exploration of houses,

played with cars,

read stories in the book corner,

and made cookies with play dough.

When we finally realized it wasn't raining, we quickly went outside to release some energy.  Although it was a short time, The Turtles took full advantage of their time by climbing and jumping, swinging front to back and side to side, making dinner in the sand box, and collecting "garbage."
