While putting our plan together, we came upon a very important question: "Can we make a second floor and a basement in our house?" This was a question that Fran and Tamara had a hard time answering it since their knowledge of building is limited, so being the resourceful Turtles that we are, we decided to go find Polly and Frank to help us answer our question!
We first had to make sure Frank was able to meet with us, so what better way to do that than making a phone call?
Frank, the Director of Facilities, even suggested that we go to the Jenkintown Township to get a building permit! He also told us he would be able to help us cut some wood to build our house and even let us use his hard hats to protect our heads!
We ran into more friends in the Middle School and decided to share our big house plan with them.
The Turtles made sure to explain in full details all the different parts of the house.
We even went into a classroom full of 6th graders to show them our plans! Everyone was so amazed at the work the Turtles did and also at how well they were able to explain their ideas!
Since the Turtles having been experimenting with mixing colors and in our exploration of houses, we decided to integrate the two projects together by making custom colors together to paint our model houses. The Turtles loved this idea and even delighted in the fact that everyone had a different colored house and was able to make their house with the color they created.
Then the Turtles went to go meet Jenny for music. With the cold winter days approaching, Jenny threw snowballs with us, made snow angels, and read us The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats!
Some other things we did today included looking at books with different kinds of homes and buildings, building an ice skating rink, jumping through an obstacle course, and making tunnels in the sand!
It was surely a busy and productive day for the Turtles!
