Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Learning with Our Bodies

Our new playdough is fantastic! The children made pizza and cookies, poked holes and rolled it flat. Playdough is so exciting for young children, and it is so good for their fine motor skills. All the rolling, pinching, squishing and poking are actually building the arm, wrist and finger muscles that are also using in writing, drawing and cutting.
And while we didn't get any pictures, we had a very fun Morning Meeting, featuring a very silly puppet show. Tiger and Giraffe joined Morning Meeting, but were having all kinds of trouble being friends. They both wanted to be friends with Jacob, and sit next to him. And they had to figure out a way to work it out. The Turtles helped them with suggestions, saying that Jacob could be friends with BOTH of them! The Turtles are working on these skills themselves, so it was interesting to hear them advise the puppets about their "friend" situation!

Outside we were also working on motor skills, climbing and jumping, throwing and kicking balls, and playing in the sand box.
