Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

We Love Stories!

During morning meeting, The Turtles had a great discussion about working together in keeping our classroom clean and beautiful.  Some of us mentioned that if we didn't clean our room that we could break our toys if they are left on the floor! Others mentioned that we might lose toys.  This was a great way to remind all of us how special our toys and room are!

The rest of the day inside consisted of finding bugs in the sand table,

investigating police crimes,

making music,

fishing,

building huge block homes,

creating collages,

making rocket ships,

playing house and,

watching our brothers and sisters in a show.

Then we ventured outside and we couldn't believe how beautiful the weather was!

We all took naps on our own beds,

created a huge circle by swinging our feet on the tire swing,

and played doctor and had patients lying on the table.

Our afternoon ended with a story our friend Wills brought in from home.  This is one of our all-time favorite stories!  Since we have been learning about stories and what stories consist of, this book gave us a great opportunity to have some great lunch conversations.  We talked about how characters in all stories, like the ones we've been playing and reading at school, have problems.  Some of our friends mentioned stories like The Paper Bag Princess and The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything!  Not only did we talk about the problems that occur in other stories we've read, but we also created our own story where each of us had a turn adding something to the story.  Our story was titled 11 Monkeys Who Went to Jail!
