Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

Building Permits?

We began our day writing our letter to the Abington Township about a building permit. Everybody was pretty sure that we needed one because when we visited Frank yesterday, he asked if we had one. Then, halfway through writing our letter, one of the Turtles asked, "What's a building permit?" We backtracked and talked about getting permission to build. The Turtles are excited about how official this process is!

At Choice Time, we did some more work on the model houses, building, mixing colors, and painting.

The Turtles have been talking at lunch about sharing food, and are interested in having a "Shared Lunch" day. We will arrange for this to happen early in February, but in the meantime, Tamara brought in a fresh pineapple to share. The Turtles were excited for this treat!

Danielle led us in a game of "Can you find..." using little picture cards of objects from around the playground.
Outside we played on the playground for a bit before setting out for  a walk to the big school.

We sang Nancy our song about houses, and then we taught it to her!

She shared some animal crackers with us, and when one child noticed that they were running low, she had us help he refill the jar from the giant plastic canister!

We ran into our friend Saiounia!
A stick that is not a wand!
