Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

How Can We Learn More About Meanness?

At Morning Meeting, we talked about how we can learn more about meanness. The Turtles are taking their research on meanness very seriously. They came up with several ideas such as talking to Polly, Dave, the 1st graders, 6th graders, and the kindergarteners. We will take walking trips to visit these experts to see if they can help us with our research. Already in the short time that we have studying meanness, it seems like the Turtles are taking greater responsibility for their behavior and the effect it has on their friends. We are very interested to see where this goes!

After Morning Meeting, we got ready for Inside-Outside Day with the Little Frogs!  There were lots of gross motor activities going on outside!

We hung on swings and trees.

We played horsey on the rocker

and even on the swings!

There were police officers racing around

and helping injured friends!

A long path was constructed.

The wagons were pulled all over the play ground.

We were climbing and jumping.

Then the Turtles and the Little Frogs played Squash the Lemon.

Some activities inside included water play and oil pastels.

The Turtles were hungry for some more gross activities so off we went to the soccer fields, stopping briefly at the Troll Bridge.

Luckily, we found a soccer ball that everyone passed around!

We even chased each other's shadows!
