Welcome Turtle Families!

Welcome to our daily blog! We use it to share daily updates on our classroom, reflections on our learning with children, and photographs. We are so excited that so many people are sharing in the Turtle Day! Extended family, friends, neighbors, educators, etc, are also encouraged to follow the blog!
One of the wonderful aspects of blogging is that it allows real-time interaction between home and school. Is your child talking about what we are doing in school? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you interested (or even an expert!) in something we are studying? Leave us a comment and let us know! Are you planning an outing with your child to extend the classroom learning? Leave us a comment and invite other families along!
We also have a section call, "Learn More About..." When we write each post, we tag it with relevant topics. And so if you wanted to see what we have been doing with, for instance, science, you would click on that tag, and see all the posts about science.

The Magical Forest

Instead of Flip-Flop day and Inside-Outside day, the Little Frogs and the Turtles ventured off to Abington Art Center and into the Magical Forest! So holding hands, off we went!

We practiced safety rules just in case cars came driving by.

We found trees that were stuffed with concrete blocks.

We played stories, such as the 3 Little Pigs, running from house to house.

Then, the Little Frogs and the Turtles gathered around on the stage to see a special performance by Carol and Tamara!

Teresa Bo-Beesa and Chef acted out different scenarios and asked the children to show them a thumbs-up if they were being kind to one another or a thumbs-down if they thought they were being mean.  The kids not only loved watching the show, but they loved being involved and participating in the act!

After the show, we read the map to look for the magical forest!

Once Carol opened the gate with the special key,

the kids were off to explore!

We met a few friends.

During our exploration of the forest, some of our friends found a pair of sticks that looked like a letter "T" and marveled at the very tall trees!

We also made sure to say hello to our shadows.

Then to end our trip, Tamara told us a story about a dragon and a girl in the forest.

To top our exciting day outdoors, the Turtles were surprised with a post card sent from Hawaii!  After reading the post card to our friends, we found out it was from Caimin's Uncle Ted!
